We got VoIP (Voice Over IP/Internet) at home now. Its a lot cheaper than what we're paying for phone service here (Alltel has a monopoly), and you get a ton of other features included. Lingo (www.lingo.com) is the provider that we went with. It's only $22-$23 bucks a month for unlimited local and long-distance.
It was some what of a pain since we have dsl, though. We had to switch to business-class RoadRunner (www.rr.com) since we required a static IP. However, we are now uploading (serving up our websites) up at 512Kbps, and downloading (mostly .mp3's) ;) at 5Mbps.
